Hello. I'm Mike Slater. I started art71 in 1998 to run business websites. I have been programming computers since 1981 when my father bought a Dragon 32 home computer with 32kB hard storage - that's not quite enough hard disk storage these days to display this web page. I learnt BASIC and machine code programming.

In the 1990's I worked for an image agency, worked as a freelance photographer, ran a community art gallery and created art installations. In 1999, I brought together this background in the visual arts with computer programming to start engineering effective websites.

I write the software used to run art71 websites to ensure that all clients have access to web applications such as search engines, shopping carts and online order scripts made bespoke to their website.

Partners working in the background include the technical team who run the servers, freelance graphic designers, image scanners, my native speaker translators for european languages and trusted partners in search engine promotion and coding solutions. I would like to acknowledge the many people who offer software to the web and I hope that art71 will play an active role in continuing to work for and with the web community.
